Dear Parishioners,
Last week we started the celebration of one of the greatest solemnities, events in the history of Salvation won – the rising from the dead of Jesus Christ. He is a unique Savior of the World. We are in the Easter Season that will last for seven weeks. We are called upon to be Easter People within and outside the Easter Season because its transformative effects know no bounds. Through His rising from the dead, God made all things new as Isaiah the Prophet prophesied. (Is. 43:18). This is the Good News of Easter, that Jesus came back to life, the first fruit of the earth and made all things new. There are several things happening in our parishes that do contribute to our making it as the Easter People, transforming ourselves, and being ready to inform and transform others. Such includes:
The Bible Study for Parishioners: There will be a Biblical Walk with the Blessed Virgin Mother. There will be 8 sessions beginning May 14th, 2025, Wednesday at 6:00PM at the Parish Center at St. Anne’s Parish Hall at Dexter. There shall be books for use free of charge thanks to the Knights of Columbus Council 2625. Simply sign up by calling Karthy Clark on 12079384856 or Woody Livingston on 16035502487 or just come in on May 14th at 6:00PM.
The Reception of the Marian Icons: Our Lady of the Snows and St. Agnes Parishes are blessed to receive the Relics, Icons, Images, and Status of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the Brothers of Christian Instruction. This is meant to enhance Marian Spirituality in our Parishes. One of the means to our continuous growth as the Easter People.
The adult catechesis classes: We are introducing the adult catechetical classes, another way to enrich our understanding of the Church’s teachings and doctrine. This will be developed further in a one hourly class on the Catechism of the Catholic Church during the Fall this year at St. Anne’s Hall. Yes, we are Easter People.
St. Agnes Ladies Guild: It has as its purpose, the spiritual as well as the social welfare of its members, as well as the spiritual and social welfare of the members of the parish of St. Agnes. Membership is open to all Catholic women as well as to the non-Catholic wives of Catholic men. Glaringly, another way of testifying to the witness of the Easter People.
Monthly Meeting of the Knights at Dexter and Dover: The Knights of Columbus meet monthly at Dexter and at Dover. These are Brother Knights, they exercise confraternity, unity and charity. There is room for more membership. Any practitioner of Catholicism who is of good standing with the Church, qualifies. You can also be a member to practice at the higher level what it takes to be Easter People.
Food Provision by the Our Lady’s Kitchen: Our Lady’s Kitchen at Dexter serves hot cooked meal to all who come, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays each month at noon, in the St. Anne Parish Hall on Free Street. Come to eat or come to help! Everyone is welcome. We are Easter People. Their mission is “to responds to the problem of social justice on the local level, especially to the needs of the poor, the hungry, the sick, the oppressed, and the imprisoned.” For more information get to 2079247104 or 2072178190.
Please, are you participating or looking forward to participating in these events? Kindly do challenge yourself and make yourself an Easter Person – the bearer and the promoter of the Good News of His rising from the dead, the Easter Joy. There is still more in the background to be explored. Happy Sunday to you all!
